Happy Thursday Central Texas! A few areas east of I-35 are dodging some off and on rain showers once more, but the coverage (like yesterday...and the day before that....and the day before that) is extremely limited. Most of the area is warm and dry again this afternoon, with highs in the mid 90’s. If you were hoping for some more changes from what we have seen this week, I am afraid you will have to look to next week - Monday is the first day of Fall, and there will be some increased rain chances and the potential for some slightly cooler temperatures! However, for the time being, you can expect the highs in the 90’s with smaller rain showers that are hit or miss to continue this weekend.

Thankfully, Saturday does not look too promising when it comes to the off and on showers, so we are not anticipating any major impacts to the Baylor football game on Saturday night against the Arizona State Sun Devils. Despite a 20% chance for isolated rain showers on Friday night, the same can be said for our local high school football games - any showers that do pop up, won’t last for too long.

The potential for a cold front to come to Central Texas on or around the first day of Fall (Monday) is still there, but there are also a lot of questions about when this front will move through. Some model guidance suggests late Monday and into Tuesday, while other models suggest during the day on Tuesday. Regardless of timing, there are still some decent rain chances that are anticipated both Monday and Tuesday (40%), at least for now. If one timeframe of the potential cold front wins out over the other, these rain chances may need to be shifted a little. Once the front finally moves in, temperatures in the afternoon will go from low 90’s on Tuesday, to potentially mid 80’s by the middle of the work week. Morning temperatures will return to the 60’s too!
