This is the type of weather that Jimmy Buffett wrote Christmas songs about. It feels more like a tropical vacation than a typical Christmas as near record heat continues across the state of Texas and will continue for a few days after as well. But New Years will end up feeling more like a normal New Years as our hot streak comes to a close to start next week.

The record high temperature on Christmas Day is 82° and we will be very close to matching or breaking that tomorrow. Fog will greet us early in the morning but once that clears the sun will be out to heat us up quickly by the afternoon. High temperatures look to be right around 80° which would put us at second warmest in recorded history, but if the fog breaks just a touch earlier than expected those temperatures could reach that record in the afternoon. An even better chance to break a high temperature record will come on Friday as our temperatures are expected to jump a few degrees with slightly drier air moving in. High on Friday is 84° and we are forecasted to tie that number as of now.

Saturday and Sunday our temperatures will fall off slightly although still very abnormally warm. This heat wave looks to end starting Sunday night when a cold front will swing down from the north and bring us back to reality. We may see a few showers late Sunday as a result of the cold front but the most prominent effect from this cold front will be the cool air it brings in behind it.

Temperatures will fall off drastically with highs likely not getting out of the 40s on Monday and lows Tuesday morning down around the freezing mark. We will slowly warm up from there and be back in the 60s for highs by the end of next week but in general next week is going to be closer to what we normally see in the winter months.
