Copperas Cove Texas coach helps make athletics accessible for all
COPPERAS COVE, Texas - Our next Be Remarkable takes us to Copperas Cove, where we had the pleasure to meet high school educator and Coach Donald Buckram jr.
Buckram serves the high school by going above and beyond with the organization called Avid, which is a community athletic organization making athletics accessible for all.
“I want to do the same thing for these kids and just have a home base for them and actually have something to do in our community, in our society of changing, kind of breaking that stigma of being stuck on our phones and stuck in our rooms, trying to get around in our society and doing positive things,” Buckram said.
Selflessness like this is the reason Daniel Stark Injury Lawyers honored Buckram with a 500 dollar check for being remarkable.
It is a part of Daniel Stark’s mission to honor those doing great things in their community, and for buckram it was a family affair.
“So me, me being a mentor guy, I want to make sure that I kept them on a straight path to do good things in society. So, I started to put him in sports when he was young. And I say that, and then he turned out to be very great,” Buckram’s dad said.
His dad is just one of many with great things to say about his passion and dedication. Another person speaking highly was former coworker Jeni Williams who nominated him for the program.
“He’s always been somebody that I can kind of lean on to come through. He’s never had a ‘no’ for an answer. He’s always had a, ‘I can figure it out. We can figure it out.’ Teamwork is a big part of what he’s about,” Williams said.
