WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Dave Aranda and the Bears will not be bowling in 2025 after reportedly declining a postseason invite.

Brett McMurphy from On3 Sports reported Baylor as one of the several 5-7 teams to turn down an invitation to a bowl game.

While bowl games traditionally require teams to hold 6-6 overall records, Baylor was extended an invitation after teams such as Iowa State, Kansas State, Notre Dame, and others declined participation.

Baylor did not state which bowl game they declined, though, online reports suggest it was the JLab Birmingham Bowl on December 29 against Georgia Southern. The spot was filled by Appalachian State (5-7).

In a statement released by Baylor, a representative for the school said “We have declined the opportunity to play in a Bowl, as we’ve already progressed deeply into the offseason timeline of preparation for 2026.”
