Restaurant Report Card for Central Texas: 4.10.25
(KWTX) - Here’s this week’s Restaurant Report Card for Central Texas:
Taqueria Las Tapatias at 402 North Robinson Drive in Robinson failed routine inspection with a 53. (47 demerits)
According to the food safety worker, there was a lot going on here.
Let’s start with the foods that were not kept at the right temperature, the raw shell eggs, boiled potatoes, cheese, raw chicken, raw steak, shrimp, salsa, menudo, taco beef, al pastor, cooked pork, fried potatoes, chorizo.
Some of the foods exceeded 7 days of storage. They were thrown out.
There was a black mold-like substance on the ice machine deflector.
Also, an employee could not demonstrate how to properly wash their hands.
There were lots of other violations.
Las Tapatias #2 Mexican Restaurant at 3101 Connor Avenue in Beverly Hills failed a reinspection with an 88. (12 demerits)
According to the food safety worker, the business was improperly cooling rice, diced potatoes, and fresh bacon.
They were thrown out because the temperature was in the dangerous zone.
And the refrigeration thermometers needed to be replaced.
Helados la Azteca at 1412 North Valley Mills Drive in Waco failed reinspection with an 86. (14 demerits)
According to the food safety worker, the following foods were not kept at the right temperature, the cut mango and watermelon. They had to be moved to a place for rapid chilling.
There was a black mold-like substance on the ice machine deflector.
The sanitizer was not strong enough.
Also, the business also did not have the previous inspection report posted for the public to see.
And this week’s clean plate award goes to Papa Bear’s at 5102 North 19th Street in Waco.
