(KWTX) - Here’s this week’s Restaurant Report Card for Central Texas:
Cracker Barrel #166 at 4275 North IH 35 in Lacy Lakeview failed a renewal inspection with an 81. (19 demerits)
According to the food safety worker, the following foods were not kept at the right temperature for an unknown amount of time: the cooked meat loaf, cooked green beans, baked potatoes, raw steak, raw sausage patties, raw chicken breast, tenders, and strips, the French toast bake, and a gallon of milk. All those items were thrown out.
One of the coolers wasn’t maintaining the appropriate temperature. It’s being repaired. There were other violations. This place had to pay a $125 reinspection fee.
Shipley Donuts at 1924 North Valley Mills Drive in Waco failed a routine inspection with an 81. (19 demerits)
According to the food safety worker, there was an unknown white substance covering inside the ice shoot of the soda machine, and old sticky residue on the lever.
There were sheet pans that were not clean.
Five employees working at the time did not have their food handlers certificates.
There was grease and dust accumulation.
This place needed a reinspection.
Cuppiecakes at 313 South Main Street in McGregor failed a renewal inspection with an 84. (16 demerits)
According to the food safety worker, the roast beef sandwich, pimento cheese sandwich, and chicken salad were not kept to the right temperature. The manager threw those items out. Also, one of the coolers could not maintain the proper temperature.
There were other violations.
This place needed to correct the violations to prevent further legal action.
And this week’s Clean Plate Award goes to the Mix Cafe at 1700 South 5th Street in Waco.
This is a cute bistro tucked away in the Baylor University campus.
From chocolate chip cookies to quiche, to tomato basil soup, salads, stuffed avocado and oh the desserts.
