(KWTX) - Here’s this week’s Restaurant Report Card for Central Texas:
This week we are starting off with the business that has the least number of demerits, yet the worst outcome.
Jack in the Box at 1525 North IH-35 in Bellmead failed a routine inspection with a 98. (2-demerits)
According to the food safety worker, it had no hot water. Because of this, the restaurant had to close until repairs were made and pay a $125 reinspection fee.
All prepped food on the cook line and in the hot and cold holds were thrown out.
3 Spoons Yogurt at 2440 West Loop 340 in Waco failed a renewal inspection with an 82. (18 demerits)
According to the food safety worker, the cut strawberries were thrown out because they weren’t kept at the right temperature.
The sanitizer solution was not at an adequate level.
There was an unknown white substance on multiple shelves in the cooler, no hand soap at the sink, no thermometer in a cooler, plus other violations.
Mamaka Bowls at 215 South University Parks Drive in Waco failed a renewal inspection with an 86. (14-demerits)
According to the food safety worker, the following foods were not kept at the right temperature, the sliced pineapples, diced mango, coconut milk, dates, almond milk, oat milk, half-and-half, heavy whipped cream, and orange juice. Those items were thrown out.
Wei Tasty Asian at 721 South 4th Street in Waco failed a routine inspection with a 93. (7 demerits)
According to the food safety worker, there was old residue and a black build-up on the soda fountain nozzle and roach droppings.
All these places needed a reinspection.
And this week’s Clean Plate award goes to Save Point Sandwich Shop at 1603 Washington avenue in Waco.
The true gamers know all about this spot. It’s located inside Nexus, a gaming lounge.
The sandwiches have pork, spicy tuna, blue cheese and with cool names such as the Street fighter and Smash Bros.
And if you are feeling lazy, you can order delivery through DoorDash and Uber Eats.
