Restaurant Report Card for Central Texas: 7.25.24
(KWTX) - Here’s this week’s restaurant report card for Central Texas:
Pollos El Rey at 2418 Grim Avenue in Waco failed a renewal inspection with an 85. (15 demerits)
According to the food safety worker, a box of raw chicken was not kept at the right temperature. It was thrown out.
Some cut lemons and cooked, shredded chicken were kept inside a non-food grade shopping bag and in an unhygienic manner.
The mobile food truck was disposing wastewater through an unapproved hard plumbing fixture.
The owner of the truck had to remove all of the unapproved plumbing within 72 hours to avoid further legal action.
This place needed a reinspection.
Los 4 Lujanos at 1000 South New Road in Beverly Hills passed a renewal inspection with a 90. (10 demerits)
According to the food safety worker, chorizo was stored improperly. It needed to be relocated in the refrigerator.
There were some chemical spray bottles without labels, soiled and wet rags lying around on the countertops, containers of beans and potatoes were stored overnight without lids, and a leaking hand wash sink.
Cultura Mia at 123 North 12th Street in Waco passed a renewal inspection with an 89. (11 demerits).
According to the food safety worker, the queso in the hot hold was not kept at the right temperature. It was reheated.
There were 2 bottles of unlabeled sanitizer, medicine co-mingling with items at the food prep line, and soiled, soggy wiping cloths at the food line.
And this week’s Clean Plate award winner is El Arriero Taqueria at 3616 North 19th Street in Waco.
This place has all your Mexican favorites, burritos, and tacos.
A big favorite is the barbacoa, or even the Cubana.
